We act for plaintiffs in federal and state court across a variety of claims and practice areas. We take on complicated cases—frequently class and mass actions, arbitrations or matters in multiple jurisdictions—where our legal and strategic counsel can add significant value.

Keller Postman LLC, a complex litigation law firm that represents a multitude of clients in mass tort, personal injury, class action, and public institution lawsuits, is currently seeking a Litigation Assistant to support its growing legal practice.

This position is hybrid in the Chicago or DC office, three days in office/two days remote.

Primary Duties:

Assist attorneys and paralegals with various case-related tasks, including but not limited to fact gathering and investigation, document review and cataloging evidence, preparing legal documents and evidence for filing with courts and for use at witness depositions, motion hearings, and trials.

Perform daily file maintenance responsibilities in compliance with the firm’s policies, such as creating, organizing and updating the firm's document management system with all paper and electronic files.

Organize case materials and prepare court hearing and oral argument binders with customized tabs, exhibits and tables of contents, as requested.

Provide guidance on the categorization and organization of case materials, including the formulation and implementation of standard naming conventions and case-specific checklists.

Proofread, revise and finalize a wide variety of legal documents accurately and in preparation for filing with courts and serving on adverse parties to the litigation.

Prepare and electronically file time-sensitive legal documents with various state and federal trial and appellate courts.

Coordinate specialized mail or messenger services for delivery of legal documents and evidence, as necessary.

Coordinate with other departments within the firm to develop efficient procedures and communications to streamline processes.

Coordinate with litigation support vendors on specialized projects, as necessary.

Work collaboratively with Legal Support Team on various miscellaneous projects.

Attend case-related and Legal Support Team meetings and training seminars.

Attention to other legal support assignments, as delegated by Legal Support Manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

A creative mind with the ability to suggest improvements, and conduct cost-benefit analyses when identifying and solving problems.

Preferred Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneDrive, and SharePoint), with the ability to learn new or updated software.

Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat.

Education:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or;

Associate's degree with 2+ years of related legal work experience in a law firm, corporate legal department, or government office also will be considered.
