JOB PURPOSE:

Oversee all laboratory sections, interfacing between faculty and graduate assistants as well as faculty and students.

SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY:

Involves no responsibility or authority for the direction of others.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Serves as liaison between class instructors and students to coordinate all laboratory sessions with topics covered during lecture, and as helper and provider for student projects.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

•Maintain, organize, and oversee equipment and supplies related to teaching laboratories. Support undergraduate teaching laboratories by ensuring equipment is properly operated and maintained.

Ensure that equipment, laboratories, and procedures meet ABET accreditation standards.

•Train faculty, staff, and students on the safe and correct operation of laboratory equipment.

•Coordinate with instructors and teaching assistants on implementing the laboratory curriculum.

•Performs and maintains an inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.

•Assist students and faculty for projects and laboratory activities.

•Support research, teaching, and co-curricular activities.

•Implement and enforce safety rules and requirements in coordination with the CEA Safety Officer and other relevant personnel to ensure the laboratory's safe operation.

•Maintain laboratory equipment and implement equipment and software upgrades as appropriate.

•Work with chairs, faculty, and staff as a productive team member.

•Carry out other assigned duties as designated by the direct supervisor, Department Chair, and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.

•Interfaces with the departmental Space and Facilities Committee.

•Performs other duties as assigned or required.

•The incumbent must keep his/her laboratory skills and knowledge up to date through self-education, professional development, and additional courses/workshops as needed and required by the Department Chair and Associate Dean (Academic Affairs).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

•Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field and a minimum of five years of experience working in laboratory settings of general electrical and computer engineering including, but not limited to: electric circuits, electronics, energy and power systems, control systems, digital systems, computer systems, communications, and electromagnetics.
