The Business Development Manager, Hydrology is responsible for leading the business development and pursuit strategy and growth of the AEM portfolio in Hydrology. They will report to the Director of Sector Sales and collaborate with sales, market sector, product, and program leadership to identify, target, and pursue key hydrology programs through direct sales and partnerships. They will possess a deep understanding of engineering hydrology, and the overall ecosystem of competition, technology, and solutions in the hydrology market. This position will own and be accountable for the business development – identifying new opportunities, and then coordinating with RFP responses through to contract closing. They will be an AEM thought leader and evangelist, leading advocacy efforts at the highest levels of the government and participating in industry events.

A successful candidate is a self-starting team player, a curious problem solver and seeker, who uses a planned, consultative key account methodology to deeply understand the agency’s long-term strategy and translate these needs into solutions. The ideal candidate will be able to conduct virtual, telephonic, and in-person meetings in a fast-paced environment to deliver results.

Job Responsibilities:

Build the Hydrology business by developing new opportunities and growing existing programs through advocacy and networking within target agencies and partners.

Conduct high-level conversations with senior agency leaders in target agencies and coordinate detailed discussions with technical field staff.

Serving as business lead to find and close complex hydrologic modeling projects – providing specialized expertise on technical solutions for customers internationally and domestically

Analyze prospective opportunities from a risk/reward perspective and guide qualification and go/no-go decisions based on financial assessment, prospective teaming partners, advocacy, competitive positioning, strategic fit, and associated program risks.

Build strong relationships and interact regularly with strategic clients, teaming partners, industry groups and stakeholders within the Hydrology market.

Manage client information, activities, and opportunity pipeline and stages using Salesforce.

Building collaborative partnerships externally to advance AEM’s reputation as a thought leader

Present at industry tradeshows and professional conferences

Provide recommendations on how to evolve our GARR methodologies and algorithms for continuous improvement

Provide input and evaluation on added technologies which could be acquired

Excellent written and oral communications skills, including attention to detail when communicating and demonstrated experience preparing and delivering proposals and presentations.

Enable clients to apply for grants by providing scope and budget estimates and by supplying sample grant applications

Develop proposals and business opportunities in response to RFP/RFQ’s

Minimum of a BS degree in civil/environmental engineering

Advanced degree or PhD preferably in hydrology or hydraulics

Minimum 5+ years of experience in engineering hydrology, with emphasis on flood forecasting

Track record of successful proposal development and award

Professional society participation and leadership

Demonstrated experience and knowledge of a multitude of hydrologic/hydraulic models (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, MIKE Flood, or other distributed physics-based models)

Strong communicator with track record of reports, publications, and winning proposals

Nice to have – Professional Engineer (PE) License to practice in one or more states

Must have a valid driver's license, plus good driving record.

Available to travel as required.

Additional Information:

· This is a remote opportunity that can be done from anywhere in the continental United States

· Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization. F-1 visa holders with Optional Practical Training (OPT) who will require H-1B status, TNs, or current H-1B visa holders will not be considered. H1-B and green card sponsorship is not available for this position.

US Compensation Range: A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $90,000 - $118,000 per year, plus commission. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. AEM considers a wide range of factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education, licensure and certifications, key skills as well as other market and business considerations when extending an offer. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
