The restaurant industry remains the major consumer-centric industry where online penetration, automation and ML-powered products are minuscule. About the Role:

We are looking for someone to lead a team of ML/AI scientists, analysts and data engineers to solve the toughest problems in food tech today. The role would require someone who has led similar teams and developed high-quality data, ML and AI solutions at scale. We are looking for a leader to guide an extremely talented pool of scientists and analysts and take their work and research to the next level to power our business. This would be a somewhat hands-on role as well since we are a growing company. The leader would be able to put the right processes in place such that the team is enabled to create high-performance solutions, models and dashboards with minimal issues and downtime. The person should be able to visualize the high-level picture and give direction, while also not being afraid to get their hands dirty and remove roadblocks for team members. This role requires technical expertise in multiple streams of ML/AI, data science, analytics and data engineering along with stakeholder management.

Machine Learning/Data Science - Expert-level understanding of Machine learning (regression, classification, random forest, k nearest etc.), Deep Learning (Neural Networks, Tensorflow/Keras etc.), AI, and Statistics. Problem statements would be quite deep now e.g. current forecasting model has been built to improve accuracy from 50 to 80%, now the problem statement would be how to improve forecasting accuracy from 80 to 90%. We expect you to be excellent in writing efficient programs (Python/R/Java, Optimized SQLs, databases etc.) and problem-solving skills.

Data Analytics - Expert understanding of data visualization (Reporting/MIS/BI) Tools, SQLs, ETLs. Good understanding of databases and data stores to define the right long-term strategy for data democratization across the org for data-driven decision-making.

Data Platform Engineering - Good understanding of big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Teradata, Storage systems, Streaming APIs, and so forth

Stakeholder Management - This role will require a high level of stakeholder engagement, including leadership stakeholder management. As the Rebel ML/AI and Data Science team works horizontally, there are many competing priorities. The right prioritization of impactful projects and the ability to manage team bandwidth accordingly is a key skill.

ML & Data Evangelization - As an organization, we are also trying to improve overall data, ML and AI fluency among all our verticals, such that stakeholders can proactively identify areas in their business where better data visibility or ML solutions can make a difference and also understand the right way to engage the ML/AI team.

Last but not least, you will nurture, grow and care for the team in order to deliver path-breaking solutions, as outlined above, for the business in the coming years. You will work closely with the Business, Product and Engineering teams.
