Travancore Rural Development Producer Company Ltd (TRAVANCO), Adoor is the first producer company in India under the companies Act.

TRAVANCO is one of the first Farmers Producer Companies in India, incorporated in the year 2004. We have been providing technical support, training, education, funding assistance, practical support and market facilitation to our 8500 farmers for the past 20 years. Our aim is to transform traditional farmers in to ‘agripreneurs’ empowering them to enhance their income and improve their livelihoods.

Travanco, driven by technology and professionalism, is running in profit for the last 16 years and Net Profit for the last year as per audited financial is Rs.54 lakhs. Travanco is an active member of Sa-Dhan, one of the two RBI recognized ‘Self Regulatory organization’ (SRO) which has been undertaking various development activities aimed at providing an inclusive and sustainable society.

We've implemented a new initiative within our organizational structure aimed at providing financial, technological, and practical assistance to 100,000 marginalized farmers, resulting in a threefold increase in their income. Our immediate objective is to extend this support to 60,000 marginal farmers this year through a microfinance model. The COO's primary responsibility is to spearhead this project and ensure its success.

We seek a seasoned professional with a track record of serving as a COO in a Microfinance Institution with a turnover ranging from 600 to 700 crores and who has actively contributed to achieving this successful outcome.

Role Description

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key member of the executive leadership team and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company. The COO works closely with the CEO and other senior leaders to develop and implement operational strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives. This role requires a strong combination of strategic thinking, leadership, and operational expertise to drive efficiency, innovation, and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the CEO and senior leadership team to develop and execute the company's strategic plan. Identify operational priorities and initiatives that support the overall business strategy.

Operations Management: Oversee all aspects of the company's operations, including but not limited to production, manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, facilities management, and quality control. Ensure that operational processes are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with industry best practices.

Financial Management: Work closely with the CFO (Chief Financial Officer) to develop and manage the company's operating budget. Monitor financial performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement cost-saving measures to maximize profitability.

Risk Management: Develop and implement strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards to minimize exposure to legal, financial, and reputational risks.

Process Improvement: Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes, optimize workflows, and enhance operational efficiency. Identify opportunities for automation, technology adoption, and innovation to drive productivity and competitiveness.

Team Leadership: Provide strong leadership and mentorship to the operations team. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence to empower employees and drive high performance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other functional areas, including sales, marketing, human resources, and IT, to ensure alignment and coordination across the organization. Foster strong communication and collaboration to achieve shared goals.

Customer Focus: Maintain a customer-centric approach to operations, ensuring that products and services meet or exceed customer expectations. Solicit feedback from customers and stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

Compliance and Ethics: Ensure that all operations are conducted in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards. Promote a culture of integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct throughout the organization.

Executive Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports to the CEO, board of directors, and other stakeholders on operational performance, key initiatives, and strategic milestones. Present recommendations and insights to support decision-making and drive business growth.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, engineering, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Proven experience in senior leadership roles with a track record of success in operations management.

Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans and initiatives.

Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve common goals.

Demonstrated experience in driving operational excellence, process improvement, and change management initiatives.

Sound financial acumen and budget management skills, with the ability to analyze financial data and make informed decisions.

Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing business priorities.
