Job Description

Position Description: Bookkeeper

Position Function: Provides service to clients and supports Directors, Managers and Staff Accountants by providing comprehensive bookkeeping services and aiding the tax, audit and financial reporting processes as needed.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

· Client accounts payable

· Client accounts receivable

· Client bank deposits

· Writes checks for clients

· Reconciles client bank statements/accounts and traces discrepancies

· Reconciles client credit card statements

· Processes client payroll

· Prepares client payroll taxes

· Prepares trial balances for clients

· Makes journal entries for clients

· Prepares financial reports and summaries for clients

· Records transactions to journals and posts to general ledger

· Records fixed assets and creates depreciation schedules

· Prepares other schedules, account analyses, worksheets, and completes projects as requested by professional accounting staff

· Substantiates and documents digital files

· Supports client management and staff, as well as internal staff, as a Quickbooks resource

· Adheres to all firm quality control standards

· Works overtime as needed, especially during busy season (January – April)

· Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Skills: Developing Standards, Analyzing Information, Dealing with Complexity, Reporting Research Results, Data Entry, Attention to Detail, Confidentiality, Thoroughness, Client Communication, Adaptability, Teamwork, Understanding of GAAP, Ability to Learn and Master New Technology and Ability to Handle Multiple Projects Simultaneously

Education: Associates Degree in Accounting or Bookkeeping or equivalent work experience

Computer Training and Experience: Quickbooks expertise, Microsoft Excel, Word and Adobe PDF competency required, experience with ProSystem fx Engagement preferred

Certifications: Bookkeeper Certification and/or Quickbooks Certification preferred

Prior Work Experience: minimum 4 years relevant work experience required
