Mechanical Engineer III

R&D Engineer - Mechanical Responsibilities: Design, develop, and test new products for the Automotive Service Industry.

Achieve reliable function that satisfies project scope criteria through the selection of parts, materials, and manufacturing processes.

Validate concepts through analysis and testing including design of test fixtures and special instrumentation where necessary.

Design parts and assemblies consisting of sheet metal, weldments, castings, plastics, machined parts, sensors, and electronics.

Collaborate with other functional groups to meet project deliverables.

Lead product development projects.

Additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: 10+ years design experience.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Must be a proactive, creative self-starter, proficient with CAD (Creo preferred). Machine design experience including Mechanism design, structural analysis, sheet metal design, machined metal parts, material and heat treat selection, casting, plastic and extrusion design, and patent experience.

Sensor calibration scheme development and electro-mechanical system integration.

Proven ability to develop innovative solutions and designs.

Project leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 7+ years of product or machine design experience.

Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

General knowledge of automobiles and their suspension systems.
