Title: OPS Biological Scientist IV, Lionfish Outreach Coordinator

Salary: $18-$20/hour

Working Hours: Up to 40 hours per week with schedule variations based on season and workload. Some overtime and travel required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications, marine science, or a closely related field, and two years of professional experience is preferred.

Four years of professional experience related to the duties and responsibilities provided herein may substitute for the required bachelor’s degree.

A valid driver’s license is required.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Administration of lionfish outreach and educational and programs within the FWC, Division of Marine Fisheries Management.

Represent FWC at lionfish derbies, festivals, and conferences throughout Florida.

Lead the coordination and administration of ongoing lionfish removal incentive programs.

Develop and implement innovative communication strategies to promote FWC lionfish programs and increase public participation.

Collaborate with information technology staff to maintain and improve the FWC lionfish web pages.

Assist with new and ongoing lionfish research projects.

Maintain social media outlets and promote FWC lionfish programs.

EXAMPLES OF KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Strong marketing and advertising skills

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Must be self-directed and outgoing with the ability to work professionally with coworkers and the public.

Ability to communicateS effectively and in a courteous manner with a diverse range of people in person, on the phone and through video conferencing.

Experience using various social media platforms.

Must be willing and able to travel around the state for various events, workshops, and outreach activities.

Must be willing and able to work weekends and other periods outside of a typical work week.

Knowledge of personal computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Experience using Adobe Illustrator, In-design, and photoshop preferred.

Ability to organize and prioritize workloads.

Ability to think critically and collaborate with others.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS:

Valid driver’s license

Open water SCUBA certification from a nationally recognized agency.
