Context and Philosophy Friends School of Baltimore has an opening for a full-time Middle School Assistant Principal.

This role will focus primarily upon student life and maintaining a positive Middle School community.

Of special interest are candidates that are well versed in diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice work.

In addition, the candidate must be proficient in utilizing Google tools and have excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities: ● Shares responsibility for establishing and maintaining a welcoming environment that demonstrates respect for all school constituent groups.● Assists the principal in supervision and informal observation of faculty.● Collaborates closely with the Division Principal and the other Assistant Principal.

Also, collaborates with the administrative teams of otherdivisions as well as Assistant Principals in other divisions.● Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school and, along with the other Middle School Assistant Principal, assumes leadershipof the school in the absence of the principal.● Serves as a member of the Student Support Team to implement supports and proactive action plans for students who are having academic orsocial-emotional challenges.● Addresses and oversees student behavior, disciplinary matters, and restorative processes.● Exercises leadership in the development, implementation, and interpretation of Middle School policies.● Assists in the annual editing of the Student Handbook.● Oversees and manages extracurricular programming such as clubs, affinity groups, advisory, athletics, community service, and field trips.● Organizes and leads a student leadership group, and mentors middle school student leaders.● Plans and facilitates community events, traditions and competitions to establish a positive school climate and culture.● Cultivates a strong relationship with parents to support students academic and social-emotional learning needs and foster effectivehome-school collaboration.● Presents at admissions events such as "In the Middle" and "Step-Up" nights.● Identifies and prepares students to speak on admission panels.● Communicates emergency procedures to students, staff, and parents, fostering a secure learning environment.● Coordinates fire drills and emergency preparedness drills, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.● In collaboration with the other Middle School Assistant Principal and PK-8 Principal, oversees activities within assigned building(s).● Identifies quality substitutes and coordinates sub-coverage for Middle School faculty● Facilitates effective communication and collaboration between faculty, staff, administration, parents, and students.● Serves on the Admission Committee and Discipline Committee.● Attends and participates in regular meetings: 6th, 7th, and 8th grade teams, MS Faculty, and PK-8 Faculty.Qualifications:● Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree and experience preferred.

Must have a particular fondness for working with students and adultsin Middle School.● Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to understand and incorporate Quaker Principles and Quaker education into their work.
