WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: We are seeking an experienced Property Accountant.

This person will be responsible for the accounting functions of an assigned portfolio and be a project team lead.

You should have a solid background in Accounting, be an organized person with strong analytical skills with great attention to detail.

You should be a problem solver who is comfortable asking questions and making suggestions to create efficiencies and improve processes.

Excellent communication skills are necessary to successfully collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders and to effectively prepare financial data timely and accurately.

Duties and Responsibilities * Manage the property accounting functions within the assigned real estate portfolio * Administer and abstract all commercial leases & lease amendments and ensure adherence to lease provisions (includes antenna leases and commercial leases at residential communities) * Produce accurate and timely financial reports * Prepare annual CAM Reconciliations for 5 commercial buildings and commercial/retail tenants in various residential buildings * Assist with property accountants' training and serve as project lead * Train, oversee, and assist commercial Junior Accountant, as needed * Assist with property budgets and forecasting * Assist with implementation and improvement of existing internal controls.

* Monitor receipt processing of assigned communities and commercial buildings * Monitor and analyze all monthly expenses providing explanations of unusual items * Assist communities with questions arising during the month, and promote accounting training as necessary * Assist with internal audit of communities * Review the monitoring of team member delinquencies and report potential concerns to supervisor * Review all general ledger entries for accuracy * Prepare monthly variance analysis of all utility accounts * Prepare monthly actual to budget variance review/explanation for all accounts (asset, liability, equity, income/expense) * Contribute to the team's effort by accomplishing tasks and assisting with projects as needed * Comply with Southern Management Companies' policies and procedures * Perform various other duties as assigned by Director and/or Supervisor Education & Experience Required * Prior experience in real estate or property management accounting preferred * BS degree in Accounting preferred * Yardi experience preferred * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Equal Opportunity Employer Minorities/Women/Protected Veterans/Disabled
