Our client is currently seeking a Senior Project Accountant to join their Real Estate Accounting Team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and accurate completion of various financial schedules and other accounting-related activities for condo closings.

This individual must possess a keen eye for detail, specialize in real estate accounting, and have specific experience with condo closings and/or condo construction. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and able to excel in a team-oriented, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, demonstrating a strong interest in the Canadian real estate market.

Organize and maintain schedules for condominium closings.

Regularly review and audit purchaser records in the database.

Oversee and manage occupancy payments, including setup, processing, and reconciliations.

Prepare HST filings, paying close attention to residential closing transactions.

Collaborate with external legal teams to ensure accurate preparation and review of statement of adjustments for large-scale condominium projects.

Prepare monthly construction draw submissions.

Facilitate the processing of real estate broker commissions.

Handle invoices, payments, and budget tracking procedures.

Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and prepare HST returns for multiple entities.

Update and maintain general ledger account reconciliations.

Manage accounting files as required within the department.

Communicate effectively with financial institutions and cost consultants.

Undertake additional duties, tasks, and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience in construction project accounting, with a minimum of 2 years specifically in large-volume condominium closings and/or construction draws.

Proficiency in Quickbooks with at least 3 years of hands-on experience.

Strong command of Excel.

Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to work independently and maintain high levels of organization.

Proficient in multitasking and managing competing priorities.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues from various departments.
