BAE Systems is seeking Interns at our Fort Wayne, IN location for Summer 2024 and part time during the 2024-2025 academic year. Intern duties are based on discipline and are established under the guidelines of the hiring department. Students will explore career options while gaining exposure within their discipline. Depending on level, the intern will be required to work on special projects with entry through moderate level complexity under direct supervision, which may involve the application of technical knowledge or similar knowledge/skills pertinent to the function involved.
The BAE Systems facility in Fort Wayne, IN, has operations spanning the commercial and defense aircraft electronics markets; producing engine and flight controls, flight deck systems, cabin systems, electrical distribution, and wiring harnesses. In addition, the facility provides maintenance, repair, and overhaul support for more than 500+ worldwide commercial airline and military customers.
You will also participate in BAE Systems' nationwide LEAP Internship & Co-op Program, where you will Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress within the company. The LEAP Program will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on impactful projects, engage in career development opportunities, and network with our business leaders and the other students in the program.
Possible work assignments:
Visual Management & 6s
Support our 6s Workplace Organization efforts by standardizing and creating signage utilizing the Brady label maker and Graphtec vinyl cutter. Identification to include eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, electrical panels, hazardous waste collection, etc. Assist in marking aisle ways and evacuation routes. There will be extensive floor tape installation in the new facility, which will require a significant amount of “up and down” type work.
Engineering Activities
Reviewing and documenting work instructions and bill of materials (BOMs) to ensure accuracy in our ERP system.
Support Lean Events
Support RIO involvement in various Lean efforts.
Employee Enrichment & Engagement System
Support the implementation of employee suggested innovations.
