Under the direct supervision of the Office Manager, the Coordinator Clinical MD Practices is accountable for supporting the physician practice in the office by managing the clinical needs and maintaining all clinical compliance for the practice. Collaborates with members of other health care disciplines to ensure safe, efficient care of the patients.

Responsibilities:

Coordinates patient flow, ensuring patients are roomed appropriately.

Collaborates with the physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants to ensure that patient calls are triaged appropriately.

Ensures timely and accurate follow-up of patient needs such as prescription refills, lab results, and follow up calls.

Prepares exam and treatment rooms. Orders and maintains medical supplies as needed.

Prepares patients for examination and treatment. Assures all required documentation is completed.

Administers injections under the direction of the provider and performs phlebotomy as needed.

Serves as a resource for the Electronic Medical Record in the practice.

In coordination with the Office Manager and Manager, Clinical Practice Operations, ensures that infection control policies are maintained in all areas of the practice.

In coordination with the Office manager and Manager, Clinical Practice Operations, ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies such as OSHA, ODH, and CLIA. Maintains a safe environment.

In coordination with the Office manager and Manager, Clinical Practice Operations, ensures that all medication policies are followed in accordance with the PPG policies, ODH policies, Ohio Board of Pharmacy policies, and the DEA policies.

Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure. Maintains required CPR (BLS).

Follows hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.

Other duties as assigned

Education:

Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing or accredited program for medical assistants.

Certifications:

Must be licensed in the state of Ohio as RN or

licensed in the state of Ohio as an LPN or

licensed in the state of Ohio as a Medical Assistant which could include (Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants or Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) - National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) or Medical Assistant (MA) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA) .

Requires current Basic Life Support (BLS).

Complexity of Work:

Maintains competencies specific to patient population served.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively work with multi-line telephone systems and computers. Strong customer service orientation.

Work Experience:

Minimum of three years experience in a physician office or ambulatory care setting. Previous experience with a practice management system and electronic medical record preferred.
