The Int’l Product & Underwriting Quality Manager will be responsible for supporting the Int’l Chief Underwriting Officer through product and quality management with oversight of the underwriting control framework. Working with the business divisional leaders on the development of International’s products and managing the day-to-day underwriting governance activities. Additionally, this role will oversee the Delegated Authority function within International.
Reporting lines: Direct: International CUO. Dotted line: Head of Underwriting and Product, GS Chief Underwriting Office. Strong partnership with GS Product and Underwriting team and International Business Practice Leads.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines and underwriting authority documentation.
Provide internal training and collaborate with peers and UW community.
Work closely with the Int’l Chief Underwriting Officer and senior leaders and stakeholders throughout the organization to identify trends, and develop recommendations for product improvement, as needed.
Support the Int’l CUO in advancing pricing and portfolio segmentation for portfolio analysis and shaping.
Support underwriting on key business initiatives and maintain relationships throughout the organization to support multi-functional problem solving and execution and input across all levels of the business.
Develop insight into competitors’ strengths, weaknesses and strategies and leverage to drive profitable business and increased market penetration.
Assist in the review, draft and maintenance of the suite of policy forms and corresponding endorsement libraries for international.
Provide recommendations to keep products current and appropriate for industry needs (competitiveness, profitability and compliance).
Work with the International business practice leads to continuously research the competitive landscape, economic, industry, product, risk assessment and financial metrics to determine recommendations for new product/coverage opportunities and strategies.
Oversee and support the Int’ Delegated Authority Manager to ensure internal procedures are kept up to date and remain effective, including ensuring compliance with Lloyd’s expectations, regulatory developments and internal underwriting governance and risk appetite.
Qualifications:
Relevant experience within International marketplace including London Markets and Lloyds; focus and expertise in product & underwriting for International Lines including Marine & Energy, Casualty, Financial Lines, and Political Risks strongly preferred
Superior understanding of Product Management & Product Development, inclusive of policy form development and interaction with actuaries and reinsurers.
Strong understanding of all aspects of underwriting execution
Ability to use data and analytics to understand performance trends
Understanding of financial concepts
Strong project management, negotiation, influencing, legal and analytical skills
Ability to absorb multi-disciplinary input and translate into effective actions
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to collaborate to drive effective partnerships and deliver outcomes
Demonstrate ability to influence and motivate across functional teams
University degree strongly preferred
