OVERVIEW

Provide courteous and professional services to Customers by checking out and packaging their purchases, refunding returns, keeping fitting rooms and store clean to ensure the success of the SVdP mission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Cashier Responsibilities:

Presents a professional, clean appearance

Handles merchandise with care from checking out to bagging process

Keeps cashier area and fitting rooms clean, and racks stocked and straightened

Follows cashier policies and procedures regarding not checking out own merchandise, any family member, other employees or volunteers

Contacts store management with questions and advice on handling unusual situations

Provides applicants with application and job responsibility information, assists with setting up applicants for an interview

Other duties as assigned

Financial Responsibilities:

Use accuracy when ringing up a sale and counting back cash money

Ensure customer receives a receipt and use diplomacy when a credit card is declined

Responsible for a balanced cash drawer

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Less than high school education or High School diploma or GED

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge of:

Mathematics and reading comprehension (Intermediate level)

Skills and Abilities:

Oral and written communication to wide and varied audiences

Customer service

Count change

Attention to detail

Work a flexible schedule

Physical:

Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear

Occasionally required to sit; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
