We serve all Federal branches of the US Government, commercial customers and foreign aerospace defense companies.

Aery Aviation is seeking an Accounting Associate to join our accounting team in Newport News, VA.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

Assists with providing financial, administrative, and clerical services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial and administrative operations.

Receives and verifies invoices and requisitions for goods and services

Enters invoices for payment

Prepares vendor checks for mailing

Prepares manual checks as needed

Assists with accounts payable & account receivables aging

Assists with maintaining vendor files

Contacts prospective vendors to validate company information

Maintains and keeps current relevant spreadsheets and databases to support business initiatives

Collects, stores, and protects confidential information (e.g. banking instructions, payment terms, tax ID)

Supports annual audits and tax preparation

Assist with time keeping, payroll function, and expense reports

Reconcile bank accounts

Assist with budgeting and forecasting

Assist with monthly close process

Qualifications (Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Certifications/Licenses):

High school diploma or possession of a G.E.D. certificate

Strong understanding of basic accounting principals and financial reporting

Minimum of 3 years of related experience

Proficiency in accounting software, QuickBooks Online, MSFT Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams

Analytical with a strong ability to multitask and effectively solve problems

Good verbal and written communication skills

Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

Experience with fixed assets is preferred

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Demonstrated resourcefulness, initiative, and results-oriented capabilities

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Drug Free Workplace Drug Testing Program participation

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Certifications/Licenses:

Experience with major ERP system

Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft 365 office applications
