Location: Clinton, NJ with frequent travel to NYC or NYC with travel to CNJ

Role Summary

The Planning Lead for the Service Experience Value Stream will play a pivotal leadership role in establishing the overarching strategies and identifying key outcomes for financial, resource and execution elements. They will need to be experienced in the business of IT and focus internally and externally to establish benchmarks for comparison. With oversight responsibility of our Release Train Engineers, the Planning Lead will be connected to the Delivery function within IT. They will also ensure consistency in process, reporting, communication, etc. with our business and corporate partners pertaining to execution, status, budget, forecast, resourcing, etc.

Key Responsibilities

Assists in establishing a multi-year, outcome-based roadmap at the Value Stream level across both the business and technology and facilitates a refresh process, based on outcomes achieve and planned

Aggregates, analyzes and enables multi-year capacity planning (internal and external resources) for the Value Stream

Owns labor and non-labor contract management on behalf of the Value Stream

Understands Technology and related sourcing, vendor management, third party risk and contracting

Collaborates cross-functionally with the Head of various corporate services, e.g. Procurement, Legal, Risk, etc. as well as Architects, Release Train Engineers and Technology Delivery Leads within their Value Stream

Develops a contract pipeline for the Value Stream with long term and shorter-term objectives, and socializes those objectives with key partners (Procurement, Legal, Risk, etc.) on regular cadence

Ensures new Technology fits within the future state ecosystem of the Value Stream, and understands the competitive landscape

Facilitate required approvals (as applicable) from Enterprise Architecture, Security, Risk, and Finance

Facilitates required approvals from senior leadership during regularly scheduled and ad-hoc reviews

Ability to review, negotiate and edit Descriptions of Services and Products to ensure completeness and accuracy

Ability to review, negotiate and edit SLAs to ensure appropriate and meaningful with respect to the Services and Products, and that they are appropriately linked to the financials

Knowledgeable and able to negotiate pricing constructs internally and externally for products and services

Ensure Deliverable Milestones with appropriate Acceptance is addressed as applicable, and fees are tied to Deliverable Milestones

Presents to Manage certain key Technology contracts post-execution

Oversees financial management in alignment with enterprise guardrails; maintains stakeholder awareness related to Value Stream actual costs, run rate and budget; coordinates with budget coordinators to identify and self-manage financial risk and opportunity variances

Leads the dynamic, collaborative processes for in-year lean portfolio management calibration and Value Stream budget planning

Directly manages Release Train Engineers within the Value Stream

Active participant in community of practice to maintain awareness and alignment between Value Stream leaders and Strategy & Planning C4E, Workforce Management C4E regarding plan and process decisions, deadlines, needs, and metrics; ensuring consistency and continuous improvement

Education / Training

Master’s or bachelor’s degree in business, finance, computer science or a related field of study would be ideal but not required.

Certifications in delivery methodologies such as Scaled Agile are a plus

Previous Experience

Five or more years of experience in SAFe Agile framework and processes, including estimation, scheduling, financial planning, and budgeting

Strong experience in portfolio management, including integrating business and technology goals and aligning, capturing and assessing outcomes

Strong experience in negotiating IT contracts for software, hardware, labor etc.

Proficiency in IT Finance Management / Delivery software packages, e.g. JIRA, SAP, ServiceNow, APPTIO, etc.

Proven experience in relationship building

Five or more years of experience in managing multiple work streams of IT technical delivery through close coordination/cooperation with Business Leads and IT Technical Leads

Five or more years of management consulting experience in the financial services industry

Additional Skills / Knowledge

Able to resolve issues independently, analyzing solutions using judgment, knowledge and prior experience; develops a new perspective using existing solutions

Excellent leadership skills with the capability to work closely with other Value Streams, Business Areas, Corporate Functions, Centers for enablement, etc.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to tailor communication and present at very senior levels, while also being able to dive into the details

Effectively and proactively manages expectations

Process engineering skillset to assist in highlighting opportunities for continuous improvement

Proven success in influencing and working effectively across a broad and complex organization to influence process adoption and continuous improvement

Ability to lean into the culture and foster team collaboration, decision-making, and execution

Knowledge of business models, operating models, financial models, cost-benefit analysis, budgeting, and risk management

Understanding of the different types of agile principles, methodologies, and frameworks, especially those designed to be scaled at the enterprise level

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills

Strong consulting skills such as targeted communications, engagement management, stakeholder management, and business development

Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills
