We are searching for a Production Manager reporting to the Site Manager.

Job Purpose:

Manage all aspects of the production function to ensure safe and timely production of high-quality products safe, in a cost efficient, and environmentally responsible manner.

Continually monitor and modify plant/organization goals to ensure compatibility with corporate goals and objectives.

Responsible for the training and competency assessment of the production team to ensure a consistent, standardised, and safe approach to work tasks, that quality standards are upheld, taking into account costs, KPI’s, safety and the wellbeing of their team.

To develop, document and maintain performance standards for the Production team, ensuring that all production processes have a safe system of work in place via up to date risk assessments and standard operating procedures

Be fully aware of, and ensure compliance with all Statutory, Corporate and Local Environmental, Health and Safety Regulations.

To use all available Zero Harm tools to enable safe working and to support and promote Zero Harm across all areas of site enabling tangible improvements to site and departmental Zero Harm metrics and performance.

Principal accountabilities: With Limited supervision and heavy decision-making:

Ensure compliance at all times with EHS and Business Conduct Policies and Guidelines and ensure that all people in their area of responsibility are complying.

Manage all production and labor scheduling activities for a 3 shift (24/5 – with occasional weekends) operation from base stock to conversion to finished packed product, maintaining communications with all functions involved, such as Production Scheduler, QC, Production, Maintenance, and Customer Services in ensuring customer requirements are met. This involves:

requisitioning specific materials and packaging o meet requirements of current stocking policies

ensure that labor is allocated correctly to these demands based on requirements communicated from the Production Scheduler

Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing processes and systems so as to minimize unnecessary loss of product while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers. Provide technical expertise for safe operation of chemical process plant, manage changes to processes. Minimizing spillages, material waste and processing times.

Manage finished product, raw materials, and manufacturing consumables supply and inventories Ensure regulatory compliance for waste-water discharge and off-site waste disposal.

Manage the development, documentation, and implementation of SOP's, JSA’s, and work instructions for the plant, as well as procedures relating to regulatory, training and quality program compliance. Ensure that ongoing proficiency training to employees is conducted to improve skills and to keep current with technology.

Manage the safe work conditions and practices; uphold, interpret, and enforce compliance with company Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality policies and applicable State and Federal laws, including training, reporting and compliance. Ensure all regulatory, external and internal, requirements are met. This includes, but is not limited to: participating in PHAs, investigating incidents, driving/coordinating closure of action items. Ensure timely reporting, investigating, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation of all accidents and incidents within the manufacturing department

Identify and manage cost improvement and lead the development and execution of cost improvement plans. Supports new or improved product trials and develops plant process requirements for product improvements.

Ensure the plant is maintained in a clean, organized and safe manner. Coordinate with Engineering Manager regarding daily priorities and preventive maintenance schedules to avoid production down time.

Develop production Senior Operators capability to include knowledge on processes, continuous improvements and methods of employee engagement and management

Maintain and promote a positive work environment through closed loop feedback, collaborative discussions and team

Qualifications:

BS in Mechanical / Industrial / Chemical Engineering, equivalent degree, or 7 years equivalent production management experience

Minimum 7 years of manufacturing experience in a processing or industrial manufacturing environment.

In depth experience directly managing non-exempt employees in individual and team performance.

Experience in working within multi-disciplinary / functional teams.

Experience with chemical reaction systems, filtration technologies, liquid / solids and gas / solid separations, solids blending / mixing systems.

Strong communicator who can quickly establish rapport and build a network with internal customers.

Must have the ability to be creative, analytical, and persuasive at the same time.

Demonstrated problem solving skills; developing solutions, and successfully implementing corrective action plans through subordinates.

Strong interpersonal, influencing and facilitation skills.
