Senior Electrical Engineer

Our Houston office is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with experience planning, organizing, and developing engineering activities for the construction and maintenance of water, wastewater treatment, and energy plants and facilities. This position will actively participate in the full project cycle, from the design phase through the final construction close-out.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead projects from start to finish.

Planning personal daily tasks and the work of other team members.

Manage budget and schedule for the project’s resources and deliverables.

Participate in or lead squad check drawing package reviews.

Be able to read, interpret, and check vendor E&I drawings and vendor catalogs.

Travel independently to and conduct site surveys to document electrical, instrumentation, and controls at existing client sites and facilities (up to 10%)

Capabilities and Credentials:

A minimum of 8 years of engineering design experience supporting oil and gas and heavy industrial projects.

Four-year engineering degree from an accredited university.

Registered Professional Engineer (by exam) or capable of getting PE within 18 months.

Extensive working knowledge and understanding of the latest version of the National Electrical Code, especially hazardous locations.

Working knowledge of relevant standards: UL, API, NFPA, IEEE, NEMA.

Proficient in interfacing with 480 V & below power electrical equipment (MCC & motor controls, transformers, ASDs, etc.) and calculations for conduit fill, voltage drop, sizing of transformers, conductors, panelboards, breakers, etc.

Understanding of power system studies using EasyPower, SKM or ETAP.

Experience with wiring diagrams, electrical interconnects, panel layouts, junction box design, PLC cabinet design, plot plans, loop diagrams, I/O lists, P&IDs, cable/conduit schedules, panelboard schedules, and electrical and instrument installation details.

Minimal supervision on scope development and technical details.

Proficient in MS Word & Excel in creating documents from scratch.

Excellent interpersonal relationship skills: Work with clients one-on-one.

Good verbal and written communication skills in English.

Excellent mentoring skills to help train less experienced designers and engineers.
