Overview:

Clifton Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate ESL (English as a Second Language) Teacher to join our dynamic team. As an ESL Teacher, you will play a crucial role in supporting the academic and linguistic development of English language learners (ELLs) within our diverse student population. Responsibilities:

Design and implement comprehensive ESL curriculum and lesson plans tailored to the language proficiency levels and learning needs of ELL students.

Provide differentiated instruction to support the linguistic, academic, and socio-cultural development of ELLs in accordance with state and federal guidelines.

Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.

Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and support staff to integrate language and content instruction effectively across all academic subjects.

Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that celebrates cultural diversity and promotes English language proficiency, academic achievement, and socio-emotional well-being.

Establish positive relationships with students, families, and community stakeholders to enhance student engagement, family involvement, and academic success.

Utilize technology and other instructional resources to enhance language learning opportunities and facilitate student-centered, interactive learning experiences.

Participate in professional development activities, workshops, and collaborative planning sessions to enhance ESL instructional practices and stay abreast of current research and best practices in language acquisition and pedagogy.

Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and instructional materials, and communicate regularly with parents/guardians and colleagues regarding student achievement and support needs.

Adhere to professional standards of ethics, confidentiality, and professionalism, and comply with school policies, procedures, and regulations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Education, ESL, TESOL, Linguistics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Valid state teaching certification/license in ESL or eligibility for certification through an alternative pathway.

Previous experience working with English language learners in a school setting, preferably in an urban or multicultural environment.

Knowledge of second language acquisition theories, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.

Cultural competence and sensitivity to the needs of diverse student populations.

Ability to adapt to the individual learning styles and needs of students and differentiate instruction accordingly.

Proficiency in using technology for instructional purposes.

Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.
