PPCCC is a trusted provider of high-quality, affordable reproductive health care along California’s Central Coast.

Each year, PPCCC provides 35,000 people on the central coast with health care services; including sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, birth control, breast and cervical cancer screenings, vasectomies, and safe and legal abortion care at our six health center locations.

PPCCC also provides comprehensive sexuality education programs to help adults and teens make healthy decisions, prevent unintended pregnancies, and avoid sexually transmitted infection.

JOB SUMMARY The Community Organizer is responsible for helping Planned Parenthood California Central Coast and Planned Parenthood Central Coast Action Fund achieve its community outreach, legislative, and grassroots organizing goals.

Key areas of focus will include working with the community engagement team and Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California’s statewide office to implement the local and statewide advocacy field plan.

This includes facilitating lobby days or days of action, coordinating regional phone banks and door-to-door canvassing efforts, doing community outreach, and recruiting volunteers.

Schedule: 20 hours per week ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS · Implement and manage a field organizing program and coordinate grassroots advocacy campaigns designed to increase the number of Planned Parenthood supporters and activists.

Build deep and intentional relationships with community members, partner organizations, and leaders who support cross-collaboration efforts with PPCCC · Recruit, train, and mobilize volunteers and key legislative supporters in the region as needed to carry out grassroots organizing plans · Manage grant-funded programs and grantor relationships.

This includes strategic planning, task management, regular reporting on outcomes, meeting deadlines, attending training, preparing narrative sections of grant reports, and all other grant duties and obligations · Support the coordination and implementation of our Patient Advocacy Programs · Coordinate and develop supportive student organizations at local colleges/universities · Collect data and report on constituents and program outcomes utilizing affiliate data-tracking tools · Provide community presentations as needed · Attend Community Engagement Department and affiliate-wide trainings and meetings, which may be held anywhere within the affiliate 3-county service area · Other job duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS · Desire and ability to supervise program participants and work with youth, college students, community members, patients, community partners, elected officials, key stakeholders, and other professionals · Excellent communication skills, including writing and public speaking · Has a strong commitment to reproductive, social, and racial justice · Previous experience in outreach, advocacy, and grassroots community organizing · Demonstrates ability to manage time independently to complete multiple projects and priorities simultaneously · Willingness and ability to work remotely and evening and weekend hours · Must have a valid California driver’s license, reliable automobile transportation, and insurance in accordance with California DMV requirements EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE · Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred or two (2) or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience · 1-2 years in field/community organizing strongly preferred · Prior experience with campaign work · Experience with reproductive health advocacy and grassroots community organizing strongly preferred · Must have excellent computer skills with common web-based applications like Microsoft Office 365 (Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google, Canva, and Zoom · Experience with constituent database systems

Part Time / Regular

Planned Parenthood California Central Coast’s (PPCCC’s) compensation philosophy supports the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Each position has a salary based on market value and the organization’s pay levels. The starting salary for this position is $26.53/hour with the opportunity for advancement. As part of our commitment to pay equity, PPCCC does not negotiate salaries. Pay Differential: $1.00/hour bilingual Spanish/English differential pay is offered upon passing the language assessment test.
