Job Description:

The Department of Mathematics is seeking applications to fill one postdoctoral researcher position,

which is supported by a multidisciplinary project with electric engineering, mechanical engineering and computer engineering. The position is for at least three years, starting as soon as possible.

We are particularly interested in candidates whose research brings together dimension reduction, deep learning, and uncertainty quantification to design new algorithms for goal-oriented data-driven

decision-making in applications related to distributed underwater autonomous systems. The selected candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of researchers at Louisiana State University and work primarily with Prof. Xiaoliang Wan (

Responsibilities: Publish conference and journal papers on topics relevant to the project; Work closely with collaborators, including industrial partners, graduate students, and undergraduates; Attend weekly research meetings and provide frequent research updates; Write or assist in preparing monthly reports and quarterly presentations for the research group submitted to the funding agency.

Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in a STEM field (e.g., mathematics, physics, computer science, or

engineering);

Preferred Qualifications: Strong background in machine learning and uncertainty quantification;

Programming skills in Python, C/C++, or Matlab.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. An offer of employment is contingent upon a satisfactory pre-employment background check.
