Drainage/Water Resources Engineer

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and able to work on projects involving multidisciplinary teams. The position is in support of project assignments related to land development drainage engineering, stormwater management and surface water permitting. The position may also have the opportunity to support project efforts related to other disciplines, such as site development, public works and transportation infrastructure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Support the development and analysis of drainage mitigation alternatives as part of planning level studies and assist in preparing budget level cost estimates.

Perform drainage analysis including hydrologic modeling, hydraulic modeling of channels and/or washes, scour analysis, culvert design, roadway drainage, storm drain hydraulics, retention/detention design, erosion protection design and design of hydraulic structures including weirs, culverts, drop structures, and energy dissipaters.

Prepare technical documents and reports in support of drainage engineering and floodplain management work.

Coordinate development of stormwater management, permitting and compliance products.

Requirements

3-8 years of experience in drainage such as master plan communities, residential subdivisions, commercial developments, and FEMA CLOMR/LOMR.

EIT licensure required, PE is a plus.

Past working experience with the following hydrologic and hydraulic models: HEC-1/HEC-HMS, HEC-2/HEC-RAS, and FLO-2D.

Experience in the use of GIS related to drainage analysis and design.

Familiarity with the creation and/or interpretation of construction documents (plans and specifications) related to drainage infrastructure.

Experience using Autodesk Civil3D.

Experience preparing drainage related construction documents such as channels, culverts, and storm drain systems.

Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly, both verbally and in writing.

Capacity to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills with limited supervision.
