Job Summary:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Center Safety Officer/Security Advisor oversees the planning, creation, and implementation of the OSHA Program. The position will provide oversight and conduct extensive training to staff regarding safety and security for the well-being of students and staff at Talking Leaves Job Corps. Oversees all aspects of monitoring the security cameras, metal detection, key cards, and complete lockdown of the Center.

Job Duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Provides oversight to the Center Safety Officer/Security Manager and training to all staff concerning the security and safety of the students and center.

· Advises and coordinates all investigations in reference to all injuries, illnesses, and accidents resulting in lost time, major property liability, or equipment damage.

· Produces reports and implementation of emergency procedures and practices.

· Coordinates with Center Safety Officer/Security Manager and advises Security Officers and all center staff are well trained in the safety and security of the entire center.

· Implements and ensures the evacuation plans and emergency measures are in line with the Department of Labor as well as OSHA.

· Maintains and trains on the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOPs).

· Meets and exceeds the requirements of DOL regarding safety meetings, center-wide fire drills, evacuation drills, etc.

· Ensures that on-site safety visits are performed and documented, ensuring that correction actions are taken to be in compliance with regulatory agencies, safety policies, procedures, and practices.

· Ensures the Center Safety Officer/Security Manager is well trained in all aspects of monitoring of the center campus, I.E., cameras, deggy sticks, patrol routes, metal detectors, GSA vehicles, body wand, student/staff key fobs, and enacting a complete lockdown of the center if one is needed.

· Conducts safety meetings and ensures documentation is maintained accordingly and readily available upon inspection.

· Responsible for maintaining all records, logs, and binders as required by OSHA and the Policy Requirement Handbook (PRH).

· Coordinates with Center staff to conduct inspections as required on a weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis and ensures they are documented appropriately and are available.

· Provides expert advice and service as the point of contact for all safety-related issues.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

· One (1) year of experience in a related field.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly sit and use hands to finger, handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee may occasionally stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must be CPR and First Aid Certified.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

· The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

· Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
