Overview:

The Data Center Analyst is responsible for day-to-day administration and availability of systems and applications that reside in the data centers. This position will monitor, document, and trend daily events in the data centers with the emphasis on system availability and performance. Willing to work in a 24 x 7 environment, required.

Schedule: Full Time, Benefits Eligible. Sunday - Wednesday 9pm-7am

Responsibilities:

• Oversees installation, maintenance, and decommission of data center devices, such as physical /virtual servers, network switches, and mass storage units. Performs IT inventory management.

• Runs inspections at regular intervals to assure that all facility services are flawless, and issues are resolved or escalated to appropriate personnel. Monitors and reports on data center’s physical infrastructure including cooling, humidity, and power. Creates tickets to address problems, incidents, and changes from system alerts within the system monitoring tools.

• Provides daily monitoring of all data center systems including but not limited to enterprise applications, servers, network devices, mass storage devices, climate control units, fire protection systems, and uninterrupted power supplies. Proactively monitors the group work order queue, emails, and change controls to anticipate customer’s needs for support.

• Participates in projects assigned by management and data center engineers which may be assigned tasks based on their skills.

• Maintains accurate system documentation in a central configuration management database for all physical and virtual data center resources (servers, network devices, mass storage devices, etc.). Develops knowledge articles that document system support processes and procedures, as well as responsible for training other staff members.

• Maintains systems to keep information and resources secure from known vulnerabilities. Updates applications and systems with security patches and code updates, applies appropriate virus protection, and tests changes before placing into production environments. Actively protects sensitive, classified, and confidential information. Conducts security reviews, as well as audits of systems and information for assigned areas of responsibility. Is held accountable for physical and logical security of data centers and the hardware that reside in the data center.

• Fosters a team atmosphere and collaborates with other departments and IS staff in functional or cross-functional teams to meet goals, objectives, and responsibilities. Provides on-site physical support for all the infrastructure engineering groups.

Qualifications:

Education: Associate’s degree required or equivalent experience, required. Bachelor’s degree, preferred.

Certifications: Server + certification, preferred.

Skills:

• Knowledge on maintaining and managing Windows Server operating systems, required.

• Decent understanding of Solarwinds monitoring and alerting tool, required.

• Demonstrated ability to lead multiple small projects simultaneously while effectively meeting all deadlines and budgets, preferred.

• Basic Storage Area Network knowledge, preferred.

• Familiarity with the Nlyte data center infrastructure management tool, preferred.

Experience:

• Experience implementing and supporting a Cisco UCS hardware environment, required.

• Experience in a data center environment: racking & stacking equipment and cable management, required.

• Experience with day-to-day virtual server management (create/modify/remove) with VMware vSphere, required.

• Familiar with the ServiceNow IT service management solution, required.

• Basic networking experience, required.
