Job Title: Engineering Manager EMC Design & Simulation (Asia Pacific)

Mission of the Role:

As the Engineering Manager for EMC Design & Simulation (Asia Pacific), you will oversee the development and implementation of cutting-edge electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) design solutions and simulation methodologies tailored for automotive electronics products including Instrument Clusters, Infotainment, Information Displays, and Cockpit Electronics Controllers for Asia Pacific OEMs. Your mission is to ensure that our products and systems adhere to international and customer standards and regulations while optimizing performance and reliability. Leading a team of approximately 7 EMC Design & Simulation specialists based in our tech centers in Chennai and Bangalore, India, you will drive innovation and excellence in EMC design across the region.

Key Objectives of this Role:

Innovative Solutions Development: Spearhead the development of innovative solutions to address electromagnetic interference (EMI) and compatibility challenges faced by our diverse range of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).

Integration of EMC Design Considerations: Ensure seamless integration of EMC design considerations throughout the entire product development lifecycle, from initial conceptualization to final manufacturing stages.

Risk and Escalation Management: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to proactively identify and mitigate EMC risks at early stages of the design process, escalating issues as necessary to ensure timely resolution.

Continuous Improvement of EMC Methodologies: Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on refining EMC simulation methodologies and tools, thereby enhancing both accuracy and efficiency in our design processes.

Industry Trends and Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of industry trends, standards, and regulations related to EMC design, and incorporate best practices into organizational processes to ensure compliance and maintain a competitive edge.

Cultivating a Culture of Excellence: Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and knowledge sharing within the EMC design and simulation team, fostering an environment conducive to innovation and continuous learning.

Key Performance Indicators:

First Pass Success in EMC Validation: Achieve first-pass success in EMC validation by minimizing the need for iterative testing and modifications through efficient design and simulation methodologies.

Delivery Excellence: Ensure projects are completed on-time, within budget, and meeting quality standards, aligning with global Key Performance Indicator (KPI) definitions.

Continuous Improvement in EMC Methodologies: Drive enhancements in EMC design methodologies and simulation tools to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Qualification Experience and Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field Master's degree preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of proven experience in EMC design and Simulation, with significant leadership experience.

Deep understanding of electromagnetic theory, transmission line theory, and EMC regulatory requirements.

Proficiency in utilizing EMC simulation software such as CST Studio Suite, ANSYS HFSS, or equivalent, with strong interpretation skills to analyze simulation results effectively.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.

Significant hands-on experience in signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) analysis, including layout and schematic optimization to mitigate SI/PI issues.

Demonstrated expertise in EMC troubleshooting, identifying, and resolving electromagnetic interference (EMI) and compatibility (EMC) issues.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English as a must.

Comprehensive understanding of overall product design principles, including electronics, mechanics, display, and software integration.

Certifications such as Certified EMC Engineer (CEMCE) or Certified Electromagnetic Compatibility Specialist (CEMCS) are advantageous.

Reporting Structure:

The Engineering Manager for EMC Design & Simulation (AP) reports directly to the Global Leader EMC Design & Simulation, and collaborates closely with other engineering managers, project managers, and key stakeholders across the organization.
