Senior Accountant - Payroll & General Ledger (GL) Location: Rockville, MD (Hybrid Work Model) Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 per year Role Overview: As a Senior Accountant specializing in Payroll and GL, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of payroll processing and contributing to the general ledger activities.

Key Responsibilities: Oversee and process payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.

Maintain and reconcile payroll records; prepare reports and statistics for internal use.

Review and ensure accuracy of approved timesheets; track and deduct all garnishments and other special payroll deductions.

Handle the administration of the electronic timekeeping system.

Setup each payroll period, issue employees’ checks and earnings summaries, and manage direct deposits.

Support general ledger accounting tasks, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.

Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial audits.

Collaborate with HR to update and apply payroll policies and procedures.

Manage compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field from a US-based institution.

Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on payroll processes.

Proficient in payroll software and systems; experience with large ERP systems is a plus.

Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
