Position: Senior Project Accountant (Contract to Hire)

Location: Irvine, CA (On-site up to 20hrs/week)

Role Overview: As a Senior Project Accountant, you will play a vital role in overseeing the financial aspects of construction projects and property management operations. This is a contract to hire position, offering a flexible schedule to accommodate your family needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage project budgets and financial forecasts for construction projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations.

Oversee the preparation of project cost reports, analyzing actual costs against budgeted amounts and identifying areas for cost optimization.

Coordinate with project managers and contractors to track progress payments, change orders, and subcontractor invoices, ensuring timely and accurate billing.

Review construction contracts and commitments to verify proper accounting treatment and adherence to contractual obligations.

Conduct regular site visits to assess construction progress, verify work-in-place, and address any financial concerns or discrepancies.

Collaborate with the project team to resolve accounting issues, mitigate risks, and support decision-making processes throughout the construction lifecycle.

Prepare monthly draw requests for project financing, including documentation of completed work and associated costs.

Assist in the preparation of construction loan draw packages, ensuring compliance with lender requirements and timely disbursement of funds.

Provide financial analysis and support for project-related initiatives, including cost-benefit analysis, cash flow projections, and variance analysis.

Support internal and external audit processes by providing documentation, explanations, and reconciliations related to construction accounting activities.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in project accounting, preferably in the construction or real estate industry.

Proficiency in accounting software Timberline or SAGE 300 and Microsoft Excel.

Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting standards.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
