The Opportunity
In this role you will have the opportunity to advise and work with departments to formulate communication plans and identifies key information that should be shared internally and externally to supports the implementation of ING's internal and external communication strategy. Carries out the coordination and implementation of communications and resolves issues that arise to support the achievement of the organization’s objectives. Purpose of the role is to drive awareness, excitement, and commitment for the Retail strategy with our key internal and external stakeholders.
Role and responsibilities
As a Sr Communication & Activation manager you will:
Contribute from a global angle, to the position ING as the preferred bank for Retail and Business Banking customers in the 10 Retail Markets. Find opportunities for the Retail leadership to share the Retail narrative with external audience
Inform and engage all employees within the Retail organization on leadership, the ING strategy in general and business strategy in particular.
(further) build a sense of community, pride and excitement around the brand, the Retail organization and its leadership.
As the senior in the team, you coach and guide the other team members on content and way of working.
Align with Media Relations to keep in mind the potential external reputation spin-offs
Align with Brand and Events to create or participate at the most impactful events, both internally and externally
Communication:
Develop and implement Retail communications strategy for internal and external target (strategy and project management).
Develop and implement the communications plan for the Retail organization, aligned with the global communications calendar, including the Big Ticket events.
Advise Retail functions on communications on key strategy topics (advisory and stakeholder management)
Create the Retail story together with the Retail Leadership and Corporate Strategy dept and develop a communication approach to promote and activate
Story mining within organisation
Create engaging and inspiring content and moments to win the hearts and minds of all ING staff (campaign communication)
Leadership support:
Support leadership communications and events
Support CEO club and Retail Heads in case of relevant events
Global vs local:
You drive the collaboration with the local marketing and comms teams in order to:
Strengthen external reputation, primarily locally but internationally when relevant
Drive activation and engagement around global big ticket events
Facilitate to collect and share performances amongst the markets
Create a global Retail community

As a Sr Communication & Activation manager you have the following traits and experience:
Stakeholder management: you are an accepted, respected and valued partner for board level leadership and business leaders both in HQ as in the local markets
Networking; you are extremely good in building connections with people on different levels in the organisation and in different markets
Project management:
you have experience with managing of or being responsible for large communication and/or campaign projects
You understand how the project is part of the big picture and you can translate this into clear objectives and deliverables
You are experienced in creating a project plan including stakeholder map, timing, and budget. You drive the implementation and make sure the project is delivered within time and budget.
Experience in a business role, preferably from working in a local market.
Experience in marketing communication, PR, PR activation
You contribute to improving our internal communication with your creativity and analytical mind. You know how to convince - even with resistance - based on content and personality.
