WHAT WE NEED

The Quality Technician I is vital to the success of our production function. A successful individual will be responsible for monitoring the food safety and quality of products and services to ensure they meet all customer and regulatory standards by utilizing quality tools and systems application.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Performs all required product and batch inspection responsibilities.

Maintain work areas and equipment within GMP and GLP standards.

Place non-conforming raw materials, packaging, and finished products on hold as required.

Perform required analytical and microbiological testing as defined by Food Safety and Quality systems.

Verify product codes and chart recorders.

Perform microbiological activities including but not limited to ATP swabs, culture swabs, plating, BacT/Alert3D and 3M film plating. (As required by facility)

Monitor thermal process checks including pasteurizer temps and packaging sterilization processes.

Participate in GMP, GLP, Food Safety, Food Quality programs.

Ensure measurement accuracy by keeping lab equipment in calibration and in operating order through preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.

Verify product codes and chart recorders.

Perform analytical testing on product, water, raw materials, ingredients, packaging, etc.

Analyze, interpret and utilize statistical process control data to make informed decisions.

Perform 24-hour sensory evaluation of products in the lab.

Participate in internal inspections and audits.

Maintain accurate paperwork and records to meet all government and company requirements, physical and electronic.

Communicate quality, food safety and compliance concerns immediately for prompt resolution.

Communicate quality results and collaborate with cross functional departments to resolve issues timely.

Collect samples (retention, customer)

Organize and maintain the sample storage and retain area.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or GED.

Ability to apply intermediate computer and communication skills, math functions, and reasoning.

Ability to use tools/gauges (refractometer, salt titrator, acid titrator, PH meter, color meter, moisture meter, consistometer).

Self-motivated, ability to work independently.

Previous experience in quality control, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to wear personal protective equipment (bump cap, hair net, ear plugs, beard net (if applicable), Kevlar gloves, safety glasses and leather, skid resistant work shoes/boots.

Ability to apply basic computer and communication skills, math functions and reasoning.

Ability to use various hand tools (knife, water house, band cutters, can opener, scales Telnet scanners, various hand tolls, as required for position/product testing).

A continuous learning, and improvement, mindset is a must; there are many opportunities to learn and develop at BRF, but the individual needs to be motivated to engage in those opportunities.

Effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations.

Willingness to offer suggestions on ways to improve assigned work.

Ability to follow and implement written or oral instructions.

English fluency required to successfully speak, read, write, and comprehend and give directions in English and communicate with other employees in English as part of regular job duties.

Constant exposure to extreme loud noises; high places and near moving mechanical parts; standing and moving by foot; extreme hot/cold (non-weather) environment.

May work in high places and near moving mechanical parts.

Frequent lifting/carrying <30 pounds, reaching and use of fingers.

Frequent use of hot/cold water hoses.

Frequent reaching/pulling/bending/climbing stairs/stooping/kneeling/bending.

Frequent lifting >30 pounds or pushing 80 pounds on a cart.

Potential exposure to caustic chemicals.

At BRF, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range.

The base pay for this role is $23.90/hr.
