Position Summary:

The Director of Sales and Marketing, Artisanal Collection is a dynamic role that integrates marketing and sales leadership to drive the success of FxM’s Artisanal Portfolio. Reporting to the Vice President of Sales, this position involves collaborating with the sales team, the Marketing Department, and key suppliers to define and implement strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning: Develop and execute an annual business plan aligned with company sales strategy and policies, focusing on accounts, states, brands, and key SKUs to increase distribution and profitability. The strategic plan is inclusive of depletion goals, points of distribution targets, and marketing campaigns to drive sell-through.

Marketing Integration: Leverage marketplace opportunities and budgets to integrate traditional/digital marketing initiatives into the overall marketing and sales strategy, capitalizing on the growing importance of online channels in the beverage industry.

Operations: In conjunction with the VP of sales, set brand standards and ensure close management of price promotions.

Sales Management: Define and implement a comprehensive distributor engagement strategy to aid in achieving FxM’s sales objectives. This includes distributor performance updates, Top-to-Top meetings, and Quarterly Business Review meetings.

Supplier Management + Collaboration: Act as the prime contact with suppliers, managing and setting goals, shipment plans, and allocations. Develop a strategy for market and customer visits to the USA. Establish and maintain monthly supplier reports/scorecards.

Team Leadership: Directly manage the Artisanal Wine Team and other stakeholders indirectly as needed. Cultivate a high-performing team that supports the sales team in account management, education, and growth within the company.

Education and Training: Develop and deliver educational materials, seminars, and sales meetings for the sales team and trade channels. Attend key trade shows as needed.

Collaboration: Foster positive relationships with other departments, including Marketing, Trade Marketing, Administration, Logistics, and Finance, to ensure seamless collaboration and achieve overall business goals.

Competencies: Demonstrate strategic sales management, leadership capabilities, customer/client focus, financial analysis skills, business acumen, communication proficiency, results-driven initiative, collaboration, adaptability, and organizational/time management skills.

Data-Driven Decision-Making: Leverage data analytics tools (syndicated and distributor) to enhance decision-making, incorporating market insights, consumer trends, and sales performance metrics.

Innovative Sales Strategies: Stay abreast of industry trends and key fine wine competitors, continuously adapting and innovating sales strategies to maintain a competitive edge.

Continuous Learning: Encourage ongoing professional development for the team, staying updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies.

Customer/Distributor Relationship Management (CRM/DRM): Implement and optimize CRM + DRM tools/scorecards to enhance performance management, improving communication and engagement with clients and partners.

E-commerce Focus: Enhance the e-commerce presence of the Artisanal Portfolio by working with FxM’s internal team. Explore opportunities to make customer websites more interactive and transactional for our brands.

Additional Information

Supervisory Responsibility: This position directly supervises a team and serves as a coach and mentor within the department.

Travel: Frequent travel requirements outside the local area and occasional international travel. Able to travel and work during weekends or evenings as necessary.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Ability to lift 40 lbs. as required

Qualifications

10 years of field sales experience in the wine and spirits industry.

5 years of fine wine management and marketing experience.

Strong experience in on-premise account sales, preferably in the adult beverage category.

Proficiency in Nielsen data, IRI data, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, as well as knowledge of iDIG.

Compensation & Benefits:

Base salary range: $145,000/yr.- $165,000/yr. exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience.
