As a Technical Writer for GOC, you will be responsible for producing high-quality and user-friendly written and visual help content with the goal of improving the success of our customers in using Google products.
As a Technical Writer, you will create and maintain product support content on Google Ads Help Centers by understanding existing knowledge base articles, tech tips, and release notes. Technical writers educate and empower both external and internal Google users, while working closely with a diverse group of stakeholders from across the business, and drawing from a wealth of resources and established practices to translate product concepts into concise, clear, and digestible content.
Position Responsibilities
Work with a team that manages various Google Ads Help Center articles and content
Take up requests to create or edit content through a life-cycle of drafting, HTML coding, revising, and various stages of peer and quality editorial reviews—self-managed in an internal ticketing system, while also guaranteeing accuracy, efficiency, and completeness
Work with a diverse group of stakeholders and team members to create clear and compelling written and visual content, while strictly adhering to Google’s style guide and content models
Review user-submitted feedback, fix broken links and missing language translations, and update product terminologies
Submit drafts and pre-published content to Senior Technical Writers for peer review and QA audit, while ensuring that work is up to standard with style, grammar, and process guides
Liaise with different departments including agencies that produce multimedia content, and language translation teams
Have direct involvement and ownership of additional projects and initiatives that focuses on process improvement and excellence, often involving an analytical approach to data captured through help center feedback
Minimum Qualifications
Must have excellent English communication skills (written and oral), stakeholder management skills, and a passion for producing great content
Must have 2-4 years of experience in writing, editing, and improving existing digital content of medium length (400-700 words), while working within a strict style guide or writing, formatting and design standards
Must have previous experience going through several pages of digital product documentation or source materials and translating those into digestible content for internal or external end users
Must have a basic understanding of how HTML tags work and be able to discern useless/ junk code
Preferred Qualifications
Has relevant experience with technical writing, content writing, video script writing, or as a communications specialist
Is familiar with Google Ads and digital marketing concepts.
Is knowledgeable in web publishing, web usability (user experience) practices, and using content management systems
Has creative production design experience (knowledge of the creative brief process, simple graphic design edits, handling and naming conventions, exporting file formats, and versioning)
