Job Title: Quality Inspector

Title of Direct Manager: Quality Manager

Position Summary:

Inspect in-process and finished parts to ensure quality products, processes, and customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions:

Establish and enforce quality standards by:

Studying product and consumer requirements along with engineering, estimating, manufacturing and inside/outside sales

Collecting material samples for conducting physical tests and analysis when necessary

Setting standards for in-process, finished product and rework.

Ensuring all measurements and tolerances remain within stated specifications.

Performing PPAP as required by Customers.

Following all government regulations

Monitor and implement welding and fitting procedures by:

Advising welding supervisor, welders, and fitters on proper and new techniques

Performing weld inspections as required

Troubleshooting welding and fitting problems

Monitor and implement machining procedures by:

Conducting source inspections & in-house inspections on critical jobs as required

Review vendor documentation / inspection reports for completion & accuracy to print & resolve all deviations to print.

Conduct random quality checks on floor as time permits.

Co-ordinate quality documentation on special projects as required.

Maintain professional and technical knowledge by:

Attending educational workshops and courses pertinent to position

Assure customer service by:

Monitoring quality requirements

Analyzing customer complaints/non-conformance data

Assisting supervision in establishing on-site inspection procedures

Conversing with customers when necessary

Ensure safe and clean environment by:

Complying with safety rules and procedures

Contribute to team effort by:

Performing related duties as instructed in a professional manner.

Offering support to engineering/estimating/order desk as needed

Attending management, quality management and departmental meetings as required

Being available to work the time necessary as required.

Qualifications, Education, Knowledge, Training, Work Experience:

Quality related courses/certificates

Understanding of statistical processes

Blueprint Reading

Knowledge of SAGE/Excel/Word/Autocad/Discus software

Metrics:

Quality

Productivity

NPL

Physical Demands and Environment:

Primarily a manufacturing environment with constant exposure to the manufacturing floor.

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

Must have the dexterity to handle various objects necessary to complete the essential functions.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. safely.
