Typical Day in the Life
A typical day as a State Credits & Incentives Senior Manager/Director
might include the following:
Responsible for building a State and Local Credits and Incentives Tax practice
supported by the firm's National Tax Office.
Work on behalf of clients to identify, negotiate, and implement state and
local tax on non-tax business incentives across the United States.
Work with the Firm's Federal Business Credits and Incentives Tax practice,
State and Local Tax Practice and other National Tax Office resources to bring
comprehensive suite of credits and incentives services to our clients.
Develops and mentors existing tax staff and recruits experienced staff to
build a world-class State and Local Credits and Incentives practice.
Manages and implements multiple projects simultaneously, including client
consultations, analysis, data gathering and coordination of Eide Bailly
tax personnel and client resources.
Attends various industry association meetings and conferences as a marketer
and presenter on state and local tax credits and incentives matters to build a
market presence.
Leads internal educational sessions to staff to increase awareness of state
and local tax incentives and issues and expand awareness of the various
related service offerings.
Writes internal and external communications on credits and incentives tax
related topics.
Conducts research related to tax credits and incentives and issues to maintain
and expand knowledge base.
Serves as resource and state and local tax credits and incentives expert for
Eide Bailly firmwide.
Manages client relationships by monitoring client needs and building value
into professional service.
Builds relationships and goes to market with internal client relationship
executives, business development executives, and their teams.
Capitalizes on personal and professional experiences in order to develop
business and practice service lines.
Supervises and delegates duties to junior management and staff.
Provides mentoring and technical training for employees in the State and Local
Credits and Incentives practice and other members of the firm's SAL Team.
Who You Are
You have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required; Master's or J.D.
and LL.M. in Taxation preferred.
You have 9+ years of experience with credits and incentives consulting
experience required.
You have a valid Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred.
You have extensive knowledge of tax accounting principles, IRS
regulations, and state and local tax credits and incentives.
You are skilled in networking and developing business.
You have excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to
evaluate and articulate complex information.
You can work on multiple projects and meet deadlines by setting priorities
with work projects.
You establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and
clients.
You are proficient with computers, Microsoft Office and related programs.
Must be authorized to work in the United States now or in the future without
visa sponsorship.
