The position provides financial support for our Canadian manufacturing facilities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, selected month-end close-activities, standard cost related variance analysis, performance analysis, inventory valuation, and coordination of data collection to support local and corporate financial systems, as well as additional analysis and reports as required to support financial and plant/supply chain management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial month-end tasks:

Prepare various month-end journal entries including payroll, utilities, storage, and reclass entries.

Prepare monthly PowerPoint analysis packages for the following:

Labor

Distribution

Materials: detailed reporting of waste (MUV) & price (PPV)

Flex-labor reporting.

Perform Cost center spend review with department managers.

Prepare Operations scorecard reporting, including cost savings tracker.

Selected balance sheet reconciliations – preparation, analysis, follow-up.

Various ad-hoc analysis as requested.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

Create/maintain/update various budget templates for the multiple locations.

Prepare various analysis vs PY, volume mix, etc.

Calculate and maintain SAP standard manufacturing rates.

Other support for budget process as required.

Assist with weekly financial forecasting.

Financial Audit:

Assist with coordinating inventory counts, supporting documentation, operations & auditor liaison.

Perform various ad-hoc analysis as requested in support of the audit.

Regulatory

Prepare StatsCan reporting.

Other:

Assist in the development & implementation of corporate policies affecting plant financial operations.

Work with Operations Controller as Finance Business Partner to the Operations Group at the 2 plants on financial monitoring, reporting, cost savings, KPI’s, and any other support required.

Support corporate office & sister companies with alignment of best practices.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education/Certifications and Experience:

Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Accounting or business-related discipline.

Minimum of mid to senior level student of CPA professional accounting designation.

Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting or related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Experience in continuous or repetitive batch process environment, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Proficient use of computer, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote), and other related applications or software.

Working knowledge in SAP or an equivalent ERP system.

Excellent communication skills.

Solid Excel Skills (VLOOKUPS, PivotTable).

Exceptional analytical skills and proven ability to apply them in complex, multidisciplinary problem-solving situations.

Project a positive attitude to others & resolve conflicts within appropriate channels.

Self-motivated to do best and improve.

Positive attitude and a strong willingness to learn.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

N/A

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

Position requires the ability to stand; sit at a desk; walking around office and plant. Also requires the ability to see; hear; and communicate by utilizing professional etiquette with all levels of associates.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
