King's Pointe Resort, in Storm Lake, IA, is currently accepting applications for a Resort Assistant General Manager or Resort Operations Manager. This position is considered a full-time, salaried role that will report directly to the General Manager at the resort. Ideal candidates will have previous leadership and training experience, self-motivated, ability to work independently, reliable, previous experience in the hospitality industry and ability to work as the business demands including nights, weekends, and holidays.

The Assistant General Manager/Resort Operations Manager responsibilities may include:

Daily responsibilities may include or serve at the back up to the property accountant on: Daily deposits; Daily audit summary; Change orders; purchasing;

Review and follow up of any guest and/or employee incidents in General Manager’s absence; Review and follow up of any guest complaints including responding to any guest complaints (i.e. apology letters, follow up telephone call, etc.) communicated to the brand’s directly; monitoring and working with housekeeping; supervising front desk staff and monitoring reservation pick up and rate strategies in order to maximize revenues.

Supervising front desk including working a desk shift, as needed.

Monitoring and assisting Executive Housekeeper with establishing and maintaining set par levels for housekeeping. Assisting with ordering housekeeping and laundry cleaning supplies, as needed.

Back up to Accounting and Front Desk’s Monthly responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assisting with month end procedures and any other action items as identified and required by the accounting team;

Personally adhere to all policies and procedures as identified within the employee handbook and S & L Hospitality guidelines. Maintains overall “Confidentiality” of information as it relates to the brand, S & L Hospitality and ownership.

Alternate “On Call” weekends with General Manager or participate in Manager on Duty program, if applicable.

Participate in the annual operational budget development with primary responsibility of creating the day-by-day budget projections by market segment (projected rooms sold, ADR and revenues).

Responsible for developing and submitting a rolling 90-day forecast each month. Once approved by the General Manager, 90-day forecast should be submitted to the Director of Operations.

Ensures that all rate plan and code configurations are created and tracked in a timely fashion and per brand standards.

Focus on achieving all guest satisfaction and/or customer service goals as well as any quality of product goals as required by the brand and/or the management company. Assist with teaching and training of staff to use basic guest resolution techniques and skills. Review brand satisfaction surveys, scores, etc.

Assist General Manager with ensuring that the hotel is following all OSHA standards and maintaining MSDS binders in each department that is responsible for handling chemicals.

Participate in quarterly Safety Committee meeting as requested by the hotel General Manager.

Follow all safety and security related guidelines and practices as required by the management company and/or the brand. Participate in any safety related training programs throughout the year (i.e. HazCom, Blood Borne Pathogens, Emergency Evacuation, etc.) as required by the brand.

Cross train in all departments and facets of the hotel in order to become familiar with entire hotel operation and to enhance potential personal growth opportunities within the hotel and/or company (succession planning).

Enhance overall job knowledge by participating in approved educational opportunities as approved by hotel General Manager; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networking as time allows; and participating in professional organizations as approved by the General Manager.

Any other duties, responsibilities or special assignments as requested by the General Manager.
