Job Description

Do you have experience or education with machining and reading blueprints? Harrison Steel has an opening on second shift in its machine shop for Machinists. This position is responsible for setting up and using various machine tools including mills, horizontal- and vertical-lathes, and machining centers to machine castings to tight tolerances. Both manual and CNC tools are used, and knowledge of CNC programs is helpful but not required. As this position will also drive a fork truck to supply its own castings, an active driver's license is required.

Qualifications and Skills

Strong mechanical aptitude

Previous machining education or experience

Basic blueprint reading skills

Good problem solving skills and knowledge of safety practices

High level of personal accountability

Work Environment:

The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, extreme heat and fumes or airborne particles, and is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. Also exposure to outdoor weather conditions, non-weather related extreme cold, water and humidity, and the risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places. The usual noise level is very loud. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
