Legal Assistant

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Legal Assistant to join our team in our Cleveland office.

The ideal candidate will assist in managing administrative tasks, maintaining communication with clients and stakeholders, and supporting attorneys within the practice group. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency in office software, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and maintain a docket, including scheduling, calendaring, tracking deadlines, preparing evidence submissions, and communicating with witnesses and appraisers.

Provide comprehensive office support, including fielding incoming phone calls, managing electronic and paper document files, conducting internet research, and requesting information from governmental entities.

Deliver exceptional service to clients and opposing counsel through effective communication and professional interaction.

Collaborate with other members of the practice support group and assist attorneys as needed.

Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Skills and Abilities:

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to interact professionally with a diverse client base.

Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and database management.

Basic math skills and ability to handle percentages and decimals.

Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Adaptability to assume different responsibilities and assist others as needed.

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Capacity to prioritize workload and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Willingness to seek clarification and assistance when necessary.Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

Experience and Education:

Preferred experience in a law firm environment with familiarity with litigation terminology.

Minimum of 2-3 years of administrative office experience.

Bachelor's or Associate degree strongly preferred.

Knowledge or experience in real estate/appraisal is advantageous.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

Ability to perform light work, including occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.

Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment.

Work primarily in a typical office setting.

Willingness to work more than 35 hours per week during busy periods, with mandatory full-time office presence during specific periods.

Hybrid Work Model:

During the training period, the role requires full-time office attendance for five days a week. After completion, the position will transition to a hybrid schedule, with two days remote and three days in the office.
