Shop Foreman - Structural Steel

Title: Steel Shop Foreman

Salary: Approximately $35 per hour

Job Description:

We are seeking a Steel Shop Foreman to lead our fabrication team in the production and delivery of structural steel components. The ideal candidate will have the ability to read prints, supervise fabricators, and manage the fabrication process to ensure quality and timely completion of projects.

Responsibilities:

Production Supervision:

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the steel fabrication shop, including scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation.

Supervise and coordinate activities of fabricators and welders to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to production schedules.

Print Reading and Interpretation:

Review structural drawings and blueprints to understand project requirements, dimensions, and specifications.

Communicate effectively with engineering and design teams to clarify any discrepancies or issues with the drawings.

Fabrication Management:

Coordinate with project managers to prioritize fabrication tasks based on project deadlines and requirements.

Monitor fabrication progress, inspect workmanship, and ensure compliance with quality standards and safety regulations.

Material Handling and Inventory Control:

Manage inventory of raw materials, ensuring adequate stock levels for ongoing projects.

Coordinate with purchasing department to order materials and supplies as needed to support fabrication operations.

Quality Assurance:

Implement quality control measures to ensure accuracy and precision in fabrication processes.

Conduct inspections and quality checks on finished products to verify compliance with project specifications.

Delivery Coordination:

Coordinate with logistics team to schedule and manage the delivery of fabricated steel components to project sites.

Ensure that delivery schedules are met and that products are transported safely and securely.

Requirements:

Previous experience as a steel shop foreman or similar leadership role in a fabrication environment.

Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, blueprints, and shop drawings.

Strong supervisory and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team.

Knowledge of fabrication techniques, welding processes, and steel industry standards.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other relevant software.
