As our Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading various sized projects, from small equipment installations to whole vessel design, large refits and construction oversight. 3GA provides a cradle to grave service where we can work with the customer to create a concept/vision for their vessel, prepare plans for construction and manage the vessel build from an owners representative or EPC perspective. This includes concept, class, functional and production design as well as construction, refit and other life cycle management support services

You will be responsible for all aspects of project management and provide leadership to a multi-disciplinary project team located across Canada (Victoria, Vancouver and Ottawa). You will be responsible for developing execution strategies and plans, handling budgets, prioritizing resources and analyzing/reporting performance to the 3GA Marine Executive team. You will support the development of other junior / intermediate level project engineer staff, across the company.

Duties and Accountabilities

Initiate, set and deliver project goals that realize business success.

Maintain a strong and effective relationship with the Client, 3GA staff and subcontractors.

Provide project management support for the coordination and execution of project goals. This includes organization and collaboration with multi-discipline engineering teams, executive management team, finance and accounting.

Develops or assists in the generation of management plans, proposals, business cases, estimates, risk mitigation actions, plans, schedules and invoicing.

Controls and supervises the work; collating variance analysis and key performance metrics to measure project performance (larger projects only).

Produces management reports and presentations that highlight Project status against established goals and plans.

Attends regular review meetings, and presents a summary of risks and opportunities to Project partners, including members of the executive management team and the Client (as appropriate).

Works with all industry stakeholders such as shipyards, suppliers, contractors and the Client in resolving outstanding issues.

Track actions and commitments identified during Project meetings. Establishes results-oriented timeframes and works closely with action owners to complete open commitments.

Responsible for the application of a suitable project management framework. This will vary depending on the size of project. You will ensure that project reviews are conducted at appropriate points during the project lifecycle.

Direct management responsibility of technical staff assigned to support project delivery.

Review of deliverables to ensure and maintain 3GA quality objectives.

Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering is desired. Diplomas may be accepted with sufficient employment experience.

Required - a minimum of 10 years’ experience in shipbuilding and/or marine consultancies with demonstrated increased levels of responsibility.

Certified project management qualification a distinct advantage (e.g. PMP), but not a requirement.

Experience handling large and small projects, bids and/or proposals.

Well defined ability to meet or exceed commitments in a fast paced, technically challenging, diverse environment with rapid change and competing priorities.

Detailed understanding of technical projects (refit and/or new design) using a variety of project management techniques and methods.

Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary staff and all sizes of budgets.

Experienced with Earned Value Management.
