We are currently seeking an Industrial Relations / Employee Relations Advisor to join the Utilities team. Based on site in Central North Queensland, and reporting to the P&C Manager, this role will actively contribute to the development of ER strategies and provide sound advice on workforce relations issues.

About the Role

Build strong working relationships based on credibility and open communication to enable the provision of accurate and proactive advice to leaders, the P&C team and other key stakeholders

Manage complex ER matters, in partnership with the P&C team where appropriate, including case management, investigations and disciplinary actions

Develop and deliver presentations and information sessions, educating and informing operational leaders on ER matters

Act as a SME for EBA, policy and contract interpretation

Support line managers with EBA dispute resolution processes

Support Industrial relations matters onsite

Site based roster – Site travel and Ad hoc travel will be required

About You

Highly developed interpersonal, relationship management and conflict resolution skills, supporting your ability to effectively liaise, consult and influence a wide range of stakeholders

Strong communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels internally and externally

Extensive experience in providing strategic and tactical advice on industrial instruments and employment regulations to reach solutions that are both compliant and commercially viable

Demonstrated success in managing Union relationships, disputes, and enterprise bargaining activities

Demonstrated experience with Right of Entry processes

Methodical and demonstrated ability to work independently, with discretion, to organise and prioritise demands, and handle complex tasks simultaneously, within a fast-paced environment.

Demonstrated ability to adapt to workplace change, learn quickly, and put new skills and knowledge to immediate use

3-5 years’ experience in an Operational ER role, with comprehensive exposure to IR, ER and training

Multi-site P&C experience in the industrial or resources sector is desirable

Relevant Tertiary qualification in HR/IR or related discipline
