This is an outstanding opportunity to work on some of the most demanding styles in the industry. We seek an individual with a good balance of creative and technical skills who can work closely with artists and developers to help us translate the show requirements into a roadmap for advancing our non-photorealistic rendering platform.
You should have a solid grasp of developing tools for NPR pipeline. Films such as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Mitchells Vs. The Machines are examples of art-based rendering that exemplify the variety of styles we have achieved at Imageworks.

You will join the Development Group and work within the Look team, alongside the Shading, Lighting, and Rendering teams. In addition to gaining experience with advanced rendering techniques, you’ll be uniquely positioned to work alongside artists and engineers to deliver the next generation of tools to advance future productions. You can also contribute to other disciplines within the software group, according to your interests.
What You'll Do:
Design solutions in Katana, Nuke, and other DCCs
Write tools and plugins for the lookdev and lighting of environments and characters
Integrate your solutions with the FX, Shading, Rendering, or Comp engineering teams
Reduce artist iteration time as well as find efficiencies through more streamlined toolsets
Work directly with artists to discover solutions that generate amazing images for our films.
Contribute to our effort of solving NPR problems at the shader level, in our renderer, with blinkScripts, etc.
What You Bring:
Experience programming in C/C++ and python
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
OSL shader writing
Physically-based shading/rendering in a raytracer
Knowledge of different artistic styles and mediums
Experience with UNIX / LINUX
Experience in the design and implementation of systems in complex libraries
History of making tools for artists in a production environment (preferably stylized animated features)
Knowledge of user interface design and standard UI toolkits, specifically QT/PyQT
Proven ability to deliver high-quality software in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
