JOB DESCRIPTION

LPN MED PASS NURSE

JOB SUMMARY:

The Med Pass Nurse will perform clinical and non-clinical duties as assigned. Maintains all medical regulatory and compliance issues for the individuals served by AARC. Maintains compliance with all state and federal policies and procedures. Proficient in the use of Therap.

Non-Exempt Position. Part-time.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Med passes as needed and assigned.

Reviews medical documentation in home files and collects data for nursing assessments as assigned.

Input Nurse’s Notes into Therap within 24 hours of visit.

Responsible for medications refills as needed.

Attends nursing meetings as scheduled.

Maintains a working knowledge of Community Standards for All Providers, HFR, CLA, PHC, waiver regulations.

Demonstrates expertise in all DBHDD Medically Related Policies and Procedures.

Maintain a working relationship with pharmacies, physicians’ offices and medical supply companies.

Responsible for completing Critical Incident Reports as needed.

Completes Disposal Reports and removes all expired or discontinued medications from the home and turns into the Nursing office for disposal as needed.

Interacts and communicates effectively with all residential team.

Complete all required annual training courses as assigned.

Additional specialized courses may be assigned.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required: High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 3 years clinical experience and experience with individuals with DD and/or MH. Must have and maintain LPN Licensure.

He/she must have experience in clerical/office administrative duties. He/she must have knowledge of calculators, personal computers, electronic financial data systems, fax, multiple line telephone systems, and other business-related machines. Must be extremely organized, an effective communicator, team player, able to coach, train and hold staff accountable, produce reports in a timely manner. Must be a self-starter, able to solve problems and provide creative suggestions and solutions. Must have excellent customer service and verbal and written communications skills. He/she must have a valid Georgia driver’s license and reliable transportation.

OTHER KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

He/she must have a working knowledge of the Arc of SWGA’s Mission and Vision as well as the agency’s programs and services. He/she must have a knowledge and understanding of the agency’s accreditation process and its value to the organization.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Using personal vehicle to travel to individual’s home to dispense medications and update paperwork is paramount to this position.

JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

He/she will be supervised by the Nursing Co-Directors. He/she will have no supervisory responsibilities over other employees.
