Job Title: Trial Attorney

Location: California, USA (MUST be licensed to practice and in good standing with the State of California)

Pay Rate: $80.00/hr

Initial Contract Length: 2 months (Opportunity for Extension or Conversion to FTE Possible)

Job Summary:

One of the Nation’s top insurance and financial services companies is seeking a tenured Trial Attorney, licensed and in good standing with the state of California, to join its team on a contract to hire basis.

Responsibilities:

Leads, manages or provides subject matter expertise on significant, high-risk and/or complex legal matters, representing clients in trials or hearings before all courts or agencies, including appeals and arbitration.

Ability to handle cases at an appellate level or in Federal Court.

Maintains billable hour requirement.

Prepares and tries cases of high complexity and exposure in all courts and agencies.

Cases may involve toxic substances, extensive injuries, extensive permanent injuries that may include future surgeries. Cases may involve inflammatory factors (DUI, death of a child).

Works with client and Claims to establish, communicate and implement Litigation Plans.

Obtains meaningful discovery, takes depositions, and participates in motions practice as warranted.

Recognizes, participates and promotes settlement opportunities.

Negotiates as authorized, with settlement values requiring Director level or home office involvement.

Demonstrated proficiency interpreting Insurance contracts and coverage issues.

Assists with audits within Trial Division (national audit and/or KPI).

Follows established NTD Best Practices Guidelines.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills & Requirements:

Juris Doctorate from an accredited university

Currently licensed as an attorney and in good standing with the California State Bar Association.

10+ years of relevant civil litigation, trial experience and/or agency hearing representation

Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Significant negotiation skills.

Additional Information:

Upon acceptance of offer, candidates will be required to submit to a 10-year criminal background check, urinalysis drug screen, and soft credit screen.
