CareOne LLC (Acute Rehab Skilled Nursing Facilities) is seeking a skilled and organized Financial Support Paralegal to join our legal team at our corporate office in Fort Lee NJ. The Paralegal will provide support to attorneys by conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and assisting with case management. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Title: Financial Support Paralegal

Collections and Medicaid Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

Assist revenue management team with various collections related tasks such as estate searches, consent liens, promissory notes, demand letters and small claims filings.

Be co-point person on cases that are outsourced to legal firms. Obtain regular updates from legal firms.

Filing and processing Medicaid applications including document collection and follow up with case managers. Maintaining a calendar to ensure all deadlines are met, document requests are responded to, and necessary Fair Hearings are requested. Engaging in direct resident/family interactions regarding financial obligations, Medicaid documentation and eligibility requirements, and assisting with document collection whenever possible.

Acquisitions and Financing Responsibilities Include but not limited to:

Assist with mergers and acquisitions, real estate purchases, and other transactions, including preparation of transaction deal term summaries, preparation of corporate documents and certificates, coordination of due diligence, determination and tracking of critical dates, and serving as point person for closings

Assist with the preparation of legal documents related to financing

Risk Management Responsibilities Include but not limited to:

Provide support for CFO and risk management on compliance with professional liability and workers compensation claims reporting. Ensure accuracy and timely report of claims.

Obtain updates from external legal sources, insurance carriers, insurance brokers and agency staff to maintain the legal tracking log and insurance claims tracking log for the network

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in legal, business or health care related field.

Knowledge and experience working in health care.

Paralegal Certificate from an American Bar Association approved institution.

Previous experience as a Contract Specialist, Paralegal, or equivalent position working for business or law firm or in a corporate or health or healthcare related field and/or previous experience managing and supporting various corporate governance initiatives.
