Refinery Analyst Accountant

PBF Energy Inc. (NYSE:PBF) is one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating, through its subsidiaries, oil refineries and related facilities. We have an opportunity at our Martinez Refinery in California and are seeking a talented Refinery Analyst Accountant to join our team as a pivotal member that would play a key role here at PBF Energy.

The Refinery Analyst Accountant reports to the site Controller and is a part of our Finance team. The successful candidate will execute the day-to-day accounting and analysis activities which may include the Refinery’s financial planning, capital budgeting, cost accounting, expense budgeting, financial and statistical reporting.

Job Responsibilities May Include:

Prepares analysis, which may include the Refinery’s capital budget, financial planning, cost accounting, expense budgeting, financial and statistical reporting

Prepares accounting journal entries, account reconciliations, general ledger maintenance and assists with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) tests as required

Assists Refinery Controller or other staff positions with reporting, analysis, and special projects.

Assist in key strategic finance projects and initiatives such as:

Accounting improvement projects and research

Ad hoc projects

Manage and prioritize assigned tasks to meet all internal and regulatory deadlines

Cross-train to support other department duties

Backfill to Controller for Emergency Operations Committee

Position Specific Requirements:

Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed during plant outages

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting or Finance

At least one of the following:

2 years of relevant accounting experience or

Public accounting experience

Basic understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, theories, and ability to apply them to the Corporation's accounting needs

Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel

Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal methods

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficient with SAP software or similar computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)

Experience in the refining and/or chemical manufacturing industry

The salary range for this position is $84,617.04 - $150,153.75. The compensation range listed in this posting is in compliance with applicable state law. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, job-related skills and internal peer equity will be considered in determining the selected candidate’s compensation. In addition to salary, PBF offers a comprehensive and generous benefits package.
