Job Description

INTERVIEWER/RESEARCHER FOR MULTIMEDIA PROJECT

About the Job:

Are you a skilled interviewer? Do you have the skills to draw people out and get them to talk about their lives, accomplishments, failures, and life lessons? Do you particularly like learning about innovators and innovative industries? If so, this unique role could be a great fit for you.

Initially starting at 10-30 hours per week with a path to becoming full-time, this is a long-term position for an interviewer/researcher to assist a focused, private team on multiple documentary and multimedia projects. Topics include technology innovations as well as the individuals who took advantage of technological innovations to change their respective fields. Interviewers will work closely with an existing, multidisciplinary team and large archive of material. Work will primarily include scheduling and conducting interviews, organizing the collected written and oral histories into summaries and presentable formats, and doing some investigative research. The position is available immediately and is remote with the occasional opportunity to travel in-person to interviewees or archives.

Required Skills:

· You are a skilled interviewer with experience interviewing people via phone, video, and in person for the purpose of supporting storytelling

· You have excellent interpersonal skills and adjust naturally when dealing with diverse personality types

· You have an investigative reporter’s ability to think of creative tactics to elicit information and can in real time adjust your questions depending on how subjects are responding

· You pay high attention to detail, and both speak and write clearly and concisely

· You are very responsive with communication via email and text

· You are flexible and nimble – comfortable switching priorities as needed

· You are able to work on related research topics simultaneously

· You are very organized and familiar with common sharing apps like Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox, etc.

· You are “task success” driven and relentless at finding ways to meet deadlines

· You are reliable, punctual, and attend all virtual meetings and check-in calls with the team

· You speak English very clearly and fluently

Prior background or experience with information processing is of value, as is any documentary film production experience. Some normal administrative work will be a part of the work flow, but your main emphasis will be to perform interviews in such a way as to get the participants to open up and provide answers to the questions inherent to great storytelling

Compensation:

$30-50/hour or higher based on applicant's experience
