LUTHIER/REPAIR SHOP MANAGER

Day Violins, a full-service string shop, is seeking an experienced Luthier to work in a managerial capacity in our repair department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Set-up, repair and restoration of client instruments

Set-up, repair and restoration of shop inventory

Oversee work done by luthier staff

Direct repairs done by rental luthier staff

Educate and collaborate with staff on skill improvement

Customer interaction on an as-needed basis

Work with management on projects and responsibilities

One week bench test for selected applicants

Must be willing to relocate to Northern Virginia area

Must be able to work in the United States

Day Violins is located in Fairfax County in Chantilly, Virginia, approximately 20 miles west of the Washington DC area. Located near many outdoor activities, like the Shenandoah Valley. Also located near a plethora of historical sites and museums, this area is full of activities and cultural events. Day Violins has been in operation since 2007 and is an active and involved supporter of music education and the arts.

Day Violins is a full-service string shop that provides lessons to all ages. Currently looking to make this position full-time and explore exciting educational opportunities. Position requires afternoon hours, as that is when lessons are held and good parent/student/teacher/shop interactions are key to building and bringing a positive learning environment.
