Your role

We’re looking for someone like that who can:

• take an active, leadership role in the conflict clearance and business selection process

• identify and resolve complex issues arising during the conflict check process while managing deal teams’ expectations around outcome and turnaround time

• provide and manage reporting requirements

• lead strategic projects (e.g., enhanced automation and streamlining of processes, banker training, etc.)

• work closely with Compliance and Operational Risk Control on audit and regulatory issues and responses

• generate new ideas and creative approaches that help push the business forward

• make sound and balanced judgments (and always within professional, ethical, regulatory and legal standards)

• motivate and inspire others by providing a vision of shared goals

• train, mentor and develop the junior members of the team

Your team

You’ll be working in the BSRRC team in New York, reporting to the Head of Americas BSRRC. We are a global team, based in New York, London and Hong Kong that interacts on a daily basis with investment bankers as well as with various support and control functions (including Legal, Compliance, Operations, Risk, Onboarding, FinCrime, Sanctions, and ESR, amongst others).

BSRRC team members are responsible for reviewing and analyzing all new proposed business opportunities before mandates can be accepted, and as a result we work in a very demanding, time sensitive environment. Our team ensures that potential conflicts of interest are identified, assessed and managed so as to protect client relationships, safeguard confidential information, and confirm that we are able to fulfill our responsibilities to our clients prior to accepting a role. The team also reviews transactions for potential reputational risk. Additionally, in the face of competing opportunities, the BSRRC team plays a crucial role with business group heads in selecting which business is most appropriate to pursue.

Your expertise

• bachelor’s degree or higher

• 3-5 years’ experience with M&A and/or capital markets transactions in a business, legal or compliance / risk oriented role; past conflicts and reputational risk experience preferred

• strength in analyzing complex situations on a compressed timetable

• effective time management and prioritization; strong multi-tasking abilities

• ability to operate in fast-paced environment with high sense of urgency

• excellent verbal and written communication skills

• attention to detail and high standard for quality work product

• resourcefulness; ability to think creatively to solve problems and anticipate potential questions or issues

• excellent judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information

• ability to quickly and efficiently navigate information systems

Salary information

CA, CO, WA and NY based roles: The salary range for this role is $162,500 to $200,000 based on experience, education, and skill level. This role may be eligible for discretionary incentive compensation. For benefits information: ubs.com/usbenefits.
