Job Description

Bright Path Care Services is actively seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). Our ideal candidates will be working with and providing support to individuals who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in a group home setting. This is a great position for interns or people looking for an entry into the human and health service industry. Headquarters in Fairfax, VA, site location may differ.

Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age or older

High School diploma or GED

Valid state-issued drivers license and reliable transportation

DSP and Medication Aide experience/training preferred

Must have CPR and First-Aid, TB test or Chest X-Ray.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to act as a representative of Bright Path Care Services to the public

Effectively communicate and coordinate with other staff members and individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Pass a criminal background check

Knowledge of acceptable food preparation and safety practices and procedures

Computer skills

One year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid or volunteer experience in the care, training, rehabilitation and development of the developmental disability individual in a Group Home preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Implement and follow the policies and procedures of the company.

2. Engage or assist in the person-centered care, training, and rehabilitation of individuals.

3. Administer medication; ensure that administration is timely and in the correct dosage.

4. Assist with daily household chores, to include but not limited to laundry, meal preparation and clean up.

5. Observe the rights and personal dignity of others.

6. Ensure that all progress notes, behavior data sheets, overnight sleep charts, and incident reports are completed by the end of the shift.

7. Observe and respond to individual physical, social, behavioral and personal needs.

8. Documents all program data, including but not limited to: individual plan data, behavior plan data, community integration logs, assessments, individual funds requests, mileage logs, maintenance requests forms, and supply acquisition forms.

9. Documents individual’s health (i.e. seizure charts, weight, bowel movements, fluid intake).

10. Assists individuals when entering and exiting vehicles while on community outings, as well as entering and exiting the building safely.

11. Maintain effective working relationships with individuals and other employees.

12. Maintain healthy and safe environments for the individuals and other employees

13. Attending all schedule meetings/training for the wellbeing of the company.
